Hello, I am new to this website and new to the Paleo Diet. Before I actually START the diet, I have ONE question that remains unanswered. Is Paleo only for the ones that have high intensity workout sessions like Crossfit? I'd like to add that i go to the gym for about 2-3hrs, three times a week. Cardio for 10 min and the rest of the time is weight train. So with that said, is the Paleo Diet for me??? thanks you and I am looking forward to reading some of your answers!

I don't do Crossfit and I am having major success on paleo. My exercise routine is gentle cardio (slow jogging) 5 times a week and lifting 3 times a week. I have lost weight and inches and I feel great. I think eating whole and unprocessed foods can work for anyone, no matter what their fitness routine. |

No. No. No. It depends. If your version of Paleo is low carb, low tubers (starch) high meat and fat - Crossfit does not marry well with that. Glycolytic exercise demands glucose! The more you do the more you need. If you walk and weight train, that's a lot of fat burning exercise. A fat burning (lowish carb) type Paleo gig likes to hang out with that kind of regimen. I have no biases here - except that I think Crossfit is ass. |

I just helped someone lose 55 lbs and improve their blood work in two months on paleo alone. No added exercise of any sort. |

I don't do Crossfit, and don't want to. Paleo has given me back my health. I weight train 3x's a week for about 45 minutes each time. I also do yoga occasionally and walk a lot. Different fitness programs work for different people. Also, there are more paleo diet types than just low-carb/high fat. I eat a moderate carb, moderate protein, higher fat diet and do great. Paleo is more about the avoidance of "foods" that will make you sick in the long-term and focus on healthful foods, not a specific macronutrient ratio. |

Where did you get this silly idea from? Paleo is great for everyone. For women, for pregnant women, for nursing women, for old women. It's great for men, young, middle-aged or old. It's great for little children, teenagers, and young adults. Whether they are crossfitters or not! Each of these will have particular needs: more carbs less carbs, more of x less of y... so it's a personal journey, you could say. But the basic idea is to eat how nature intended it. |

No. Actually I think it may be best for lazy slackers. I used to be that but lost almost 70lbs with just some very basic exercise. As I shrunk the more I actually wanted to do more exercise. FYI I am 5'11 206 and was 272. I am still not an exercise nut but I love what I do and I move alot. |

Absolutely not. Paleo is a diet for health, which improves fitness, indirectly by improving quality of life. When I was at the apex of my very short bout of athletic success, my diet was horrible. Everyone of my peers had a similar awful diet... and we all spent 4 hours in the gym, 4-6 days a week. |

The principles of a paleo/primal diet and lifestyle is for everyone. I feel it to be an inclusive, community-based way to eat and live happily. My girlfriend, a runner, and occasional triathlon gal, was skeptical of the diet and way of exercising until she saw Dr. Terry Wahls' Ted Talk. We now eat together more, and she is as committed as I am. Many skeptical friends, coworkers, and even family are baffled that you can basically eat a lot of awesome food and take walks and be in the best shape of your life. The pain I see great people in my life put themselves thru with lowfat, low-meat, calorie-counting diets and insane cardio workouts is a bummer. I used to do the somewhat conventional lift heavy weights and cardio sorta thing, while eating a "paleo-lite" diet. before paleo: around 6ft, 255lbs today: 215lbs |
