She says multiple things I liked :

People miss the point of a whole foods diet

So many people do ask is this paleo while it's so easy to decide for yourself. And :

People think that one template of the paleo diet works for everybody, bur we gotta adapt the diet to our own problems.

This is why I don't like hack my diet plan or similar threads on here (I'm being a hypocrite because I ask these kind of questions from time to time too) : it only works if your body says it works.

Still, I find it hard to review this : most people here already know 95% of what was said, if not more. There's nothing new, no interesting sparkle that intrigued me. It's just the standard things over and over again.

But maybe it's just me, I'm not a big fan of paleo cookbooks etc. It just makes it more difficult to think of food as an experience that should not necessarily be a good one. I like having disgusting meals from time to time and laugh at myself. It feels good, it feels different. If you eat candy every day, the amazing taste disappears shortly after, until you reach a point where eating becomes an automatism. And when that happens, another magical aspect of life has disappeared :) Just like video games ruins real adventure. Just like porn ruins sex.

I agree with you about the fancy meal phenomenon. For one reason or another, the part of my brain that has the majority of people obsessed with food, is turned off for me. I'm usually fine eating the same boring thing day in and day out. – David Csonka Feb 26 2012 at 16:35

Agreed. People think I am weird cause I am really not bothered about what I eat as long as its falls into the paleo-ish, whole food frame work. – Bill Feb 27 2012 at 5:49

I found her very enrolling. She quickly convinced me I'd like to read her book when it's released because she spoke as someone who is comfortable/confident with her approaches and she demonstrated that she's thought out practical methods to advise people based on their personal situations.

Based on what I heard I'm going to start browsing her podcasts.

For me the most helpful element in her discussion was about how to interact with family & friends - ie. with LOVE.

When the people closest to you are eating a diet that is let's say 'not optimal' in your opinion, or are struggling with health problems yet not giving your advice the time of day, try to remember to stay as positive, caring, understanding, and patient as you can.

I'm thankful to Diane for discussing this, and I will add it to my 'toolkit'.

I saw the note about videos being slow to load as a result of traffic, but I'm getting a file not found error. I wonder if they pulled them until they could ramp up server capacity? – Beth-WeightMaven Feb 26 2012 at 14:29

Ah, looks like he is replacing the links to the videos to unlisted YouTube videos. That will certainly solve the server bandwidth problem! – Beth-WeightMaven Feb 26 2012 at 15:37

They fixed the glitched in the video. This presentation is good for people with questions on eating out. And talking to others about the diet. I look forward to her book for the recipes

I couldn't get into it. I think two in a row is too much paleo for me. I will revisit it later today. Update: I tried again, and it didn't capture my interest during the long answers. I wish Sean would have jumped in and asked more questions. I guess I am not all that interested in the topic, but I did like what she had to say about eating out. She is very practical. I noticed that yesterday's videos are still available for viewing for a short time today.

@Loon, LOL, you'll have to crank it up tomorrow as there are 3 talks planned. At least we don't have to sit in an auditorium seat. – Nance Feb 26 2012 at 20:23
I think both Mark's and Diane's presentations were geared more towards newbies. I'm looking forward to some of the presentations by the people I don't know and haven't heard from before, like Allison Siebecker. – Beth-WeightMaven Feb 27 2012 at 0:40
Oh, I would have loved it in an auditorium, then we could throw out new questions – The Loon Feb 27 2012 at 15:23
Allison who? Me too – The Loon Feb 27 2012 at 15:29
