I'm new to paleo and I've planning on slowly easing myself into the lifestyle. I don't eat red meat or poultry (not for political reasons, I just don't like it). I love seafood and vegetables, but they are low fat. What are some good ways to get more fat into my diet? (Aside from butter, which is great. But I need MOAR FAT).

If you are eating seafood it is important to eat the organ meats of fish to get vitamin K2 if you are not eating other sources of vitamin K2 in your diet. http://www.ccac-accc.ca/health-source/217-seafood-and-vitamin-k2.html |

You've just gotten some of the best suggestions in the previous posts. Eat fatty fish, add avocados, eggs, lots and lots of good oils, and eat nuts. Fat, healthy fat, should not be a problem with all the great sources out there. I love a spoonful of coconut oil as a snack. |

Cheese glorious cheese. I've been living on crab melts for months. When crab season ends I switch to tuna melts. |

Stir-fry your vegetables in lots of coconut oil. It might taste funny the first few times, but after a while you'll find that you'll begin to like it. Coconut oil has an almost perfect omega3 to omega6 ratio. This will help to decrease any inflammation you might have in your body. |

If cheese is paleo then I've been wronging myself for over a year now. I'm gonna go make an icecream sundae with melted cheese and bacon sprinkles now. Seriously though, Carlson's Fish oil or the equivalent Vitamin Shoppe brand have a lemon flavor and almost no fishy taste (that I can detect). Use that as a salad dressing with apple cider vinegar. I like to soak peppers in the apple cider to give it a kick. |
