Does anyone else get cravings for PUFA oils while trying to lose weight? I eat plenty of meat and fat but as the evening comes I start craving mayo. I generally eat LC , but I have cut back further to try and drop a few lbs.

Are you sure you're not just craving the mayo itself? What if you made some quality mayo, sans PUFAs? – Maria Mar 3 2012 at 3:22

That hasn't escaped me. I've been making homemade mayo with EVOO. But I feel an almost compulsive need to eat fish-oil tablets. – ZombieApocalypseKitten Mar 18 2012 at 3:15

Every time I open a can of salmon I wish I could put a dollop of mayo on it. I'm not willing to use store-bought mayo and since I only have a can of salmon about once a week I'd waste too much home-made mayo. So I do without it but I do miss it. I just mix the juice back into the meat and add salt. (sigh)

That's the only time I miss it because all the other situations in which I used to use mayo no longer exist--macaroni salad, tuna sandwiches, etc.

If there were a recipe for a tbsp of home-made mayo, I'd be on it!

Mayo goes with everything, Nance. 2 cups a week does a body good! – Matt Mar 3 2012 at 17:19

:-)) Since I'd be making it with EVOO, I supposed I could use it on my salads, huh? – Nance Mar 3 2012 at 17:35

Nope. Haven't had that experience.

FWIW~ I've been Primal for over a year now and am finding that dropping my fat intake significantly and just eating protein and low carbs (50-70 g) and drinking a lot of water is working really well at dropping a few pounds of body fat I put on over the winter.

If you have been Paleo for awhile, you might want to try this. I have NO cravings.

That is very different from that 'add for fat' dialogue that has been going on. I already eat below 100g carbs (usually below 60). Supposedly I eat enough protein for a body builder (120+grams). – ZombieApocalypseKitten Mar 18 2012 at 3:14
