Since I started eating paleo I can not stop working. Seriously. I'm doing it 12 hours a day. The recommendation to stop watching computer screens before going to sleep was a difficult one for me.

I haven't touched my iPod for months, haven't played a video game for months, ... I do read books. Personally I think it's all because of stress : I need less relaxing when I don't eat crap. Less relaxation = more work.

What about you?

I'm a PhD student and I just wrote a 57 page dissertation chapter and a 25 page dissertation prospectus in a month's time - all on Paleo while attending bootcamps twice a week with another high intensity workout to top it off. Energy? Yes! Workaholism? I think I might have had that before. But I have been working non-stop for a long period of time recently and wondering how I am still going....kind of amazing that it might be my diet and exercise. Paleo has changed my life and I love it!

I think that once you get rid of the gluten, the inflammation begins to subside in your body. Hypothalamic inflammation goes down as a result. And because of that your thyroid kicks in, giving you more energy and less brain fog.

I clearly have a lot more energy since I cleaned up my food intake. If there's a payoff for you in applying the additional capacity to your work that can be a happy option. Otherwise, I do more socializing and moving around, etc., and I invest a lot more thought and energy in food preparation. I do more online reading too.

Well for me it's not about energy, really. I just can cope with stress better. – Korion Mar 4 2012 at 9:33

Ditto, but I don't really see it as a bad thing (for now). I'm 27 years old and I'm a Wall Streeter. I need a competitive edge as such, as I'm sure many do, and Paleo happens to be just that.

Maybe you could write a paleo business book? "The Caveman's Edge: Using a Paleo Lifestyle to Get Ahead on Wall Street" – killerbee Mar 3 2012 at 20:34

Nope! But maybe it's because I am older?

I certainly have more energy, but I use it for relaxing walks and invigorating hikes with my husband, going dancing, gardening, etc...

I work too much as I always have....I just no longer have a headache, stomachache and grouchy disposition (well...I fib a little on that last one.)
