I love sunflower seeds and seasame seeds...are these still allowable?

They're pretty bad for O6. But sure you can eat them in moderation. Note, moderation = single ounce and not big bags range. "Loving them" usually precludes that since it's extremely easy to overeat. |

Seeds and nuts are allowed even under the most paleo-puritanistic idealism with moderation. "Indulge" may be too strong a word, but feel free to incorporate them into your lifestyle. You may find that generally most nuts have a slightly more attractive fatty acid profile than most seeds, but -- except for the awesome outliers like coconut -- they are generally at about the same level of healthiness with respect to FAs. Some nut oils like macadamia and walnut are particular good for you, too, whereas seed oils tend to be not so great with respect to desired FA profile. FWIW, I use tons of tahini when I make baba ghanoush. Yum! For further study, search PH for info about desired Omega 3 : 6 ratio. |
