I love Zukay's fermented kvass drinks, especially the beet kvass. I used these products during my initial 3 day bone broth fast before beginning paleo and I definitely think it helped heal my gut. I have been drinking it now for 2 years but they began to add Organic Green Stevia to their formula. I can only assume to appeal to the masses who may not enjoy the rich beet taste and need something more paletable. I checked there website and they still advertise the kvass without the stevia but I can't find it in any of the stores I go to....they all replaced it with the sweetened kvass. I don't use any sweetners anymore, even stevia, and I have seen some benefits regarding digestion and cravings.
My hack is this, does adding the stevia take anything away from the digestive benefits of the fermented kvass?

Stevia has been used traditionally by the native peoples where it generally grows for tens of centuries. I wouldn't be immediately suspicious of deleterious effects.
However, I'm totally in the same boat as you -- I just don't like, and tend to avoid, sweet stuff. I would talk to the managers at the stores you go to to see if they can keep both in stock. Possibly mention that you would hate for them to lose your business because of a little sweetener. If it's a "health food store", they are probably used to oddball requests, and will happily oblige ordering products for you.
Ugh! I make my own but I bought some Zukay to compare. I thought I read the label in the store, but evidently not because I took one swig of it and nearly choked. THEN I saw stevia in the ingredients.
Kvass does not need sweetening--it has its own natural, subtle sweetness. I only taste bitter with stevia in all forms, so I thought it was terrible. I DO make my own and it's great, but I wanted to try others and this was awful.
