I asked a question about marijuana for medical use relating to a paleolithic diet. Marijuana is a plant part that is legal for medical prescription in some areas of the country. The question related to paleolithic diets because it is a natural plant with toxicities and benefits, and I was interested in the paleo perspective of these decision criteria.

In fact, its usage is increasingly supported by peer reviewed literature for some medical conditions, such as my own. In paleolithic times, I have no doubt that herbs were used for medicinal purposes, and this one sure is. "Let our food be our medicine, and our medicine be our food" (Hippocrates)

I do not see the question listed under my questions, so I assume it got deleted. Explanation please?

I assume Patrik deleted it because this is his domain name, he paid for it, and weed is illegal in his state. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Sep 16 2010 at 2:56

Melissa, I do not agree on the "tenuous connection" bit. See below. And there are soooooo many websites on cupcake recipes, acne, thyroid issues, fermenting drinks, etc. I doubt you'll agree that my topic fits in this category, but I believe it does. Things link to a paleo lifestyle in all kinds of different ways. – Kamal Sep 16 2010 at 4:34

I didn't see the original question, but let's face it, drug use is very paleo. Many if not most tribes use some type of drug. I hear betal nut packs quite a kick. Native Indians in the US and south america use/used a number of powerful hallucinogens including peyote, mescal bean, etc. In times past, they provided a useful psychological outlet to society. – Eva Sep 16 2010 at 5:08

Many people here use drugs, but I totally understand where Patrik is coming from. It's not a good idea to have this stuff on a domain you own. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Sep 16 2010 at 5:11

Not wanting drug discussion on your domain I can totally understand. The other reasons I only slightly understand. – Kamal Sep 16 2010 at 5:18

You should probably delete my thread entitled "You’re on Death Row. What would your last meal be?" The tone is similarly jokey, and is not directly related to paleo. (Not being sarcastic, it really doesn't fit with nutrient/biochem/etc kind of questions)

I thought about it, but decided to let it slide. – Patrik Sep 16 2010 at 5:01

I deleted it because it has nothing to do with Paleo. Plus, the tone was utterly sophomoric. I am too busy to notify folks when I delete their posts. C'est la vie.

On the plus side, I don't take it personally when I come across a post that needs deleting -- and neither should you take it personally if I delete it.

For the record: I have no position on marijuana - either pro or con.

And while you're obviously the judge, jury, and executioner on this site, in my view, the topic fit the FAQ criteria as well as many others. The active ingredient in weed in a pharmaceutical drug (Marinol) that sometimes is a direct competitor to NSAIDs, which are a competitor to diet based interventions when it comes to pain modulated by inflammation. Out of the biggest health problems that turns people to paleo, joint pain is one of them. I know I am not alone on this forum with having major joint pain issues, and that is the primary reason I started the diet in the first place. – Kamal Sep 16 2010 at 4:31

Then ask about those things: what recreational intoxicants did paleolithic people use? What is a good paleo solution for joint pain, etc. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Sep 16 2010 at 4:52

@Eva -- none of this has anything to do with you. I find your contributions to PaleoHacks to be thoughtful and very, very interesting. – Patrik Sep 16 2010 at 4:59

@Kamal - it is clear that you are very intelligent and you have a lot to contribute to PaleoHacks -- if you think I care whether or not you downvote my comments, you are mistaken. However, it is also clear that you are thirsting for attention as well. – Patrik Sep 16 2010 at 5:29

Kamal, you are annoying in general. I read about animal rights all the time and willingly participate in arguing about it on other websites. You seem to like attention and to poke people with a stick. It's not cool. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Sep 16 2010 at 14:11

Yeah, I noticed my question from a few days back about the weirdest benefit of going paleo, was suddenly gone the next day. Stephen made a sorta sex oriented response, but I didn't think it was that bad compared to other comments made in other threads. Plus it was just one response. I was a bit surprised. NOt sure what the problem was but it would be nice to know why it was deleted. Usually if a thread is too similar to a previous one, then the previous one is linked. I just thought it would be interesting to see what kinds of surprising outcomes and things people have experienced, instead of just the same ones we always hear about like better energy, etc. If I don't understand why the thread was nuked, I will be more likely to commit the same mistake again.

I merged it with the other question about the exact same thing. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Sep 16 2010 at 4:26
