I have been paleo for 6 months with the exception of the holiday cheating and occasionally eating a little rice and beans maybe once a week. Overall I feel great! more energy, better skin, weight loss, muscle tone..blah blah blah...My son will be a year old at the end of the month and I just got my 2nd period after having him, but boy this was a crazy mood swing. I had some mood swings when I first started paleo, but that is pretty normal from what I am reading. I never had bad mood swings with my period before going paleo. The day before my period I cried all day for no reason. The next day I was super depressed, the 3rd day I felt better and today I was extremely angry for no reason. This is not like me, I am usually very calm and level headed. Since this is only my 2nd period after going paleo my question is, is this normal? Are our hormones stronger on paleo? Is there something I may be missing in my diet? Did the carbs mask the moodswings?
Here is my typical meal plan: 7:30 am Breakfast- Eggs with avocado and what ever veggies I have on hand. or a smoothie with fresh berries, raw egg hemp protein, coconut milk, and spinach
11:30 Lunch- Baked yam with some type of fish and veggies and a salad.
6:00 Dinner- Roasted vegetables or steamed brocoli with some type of fish sometimes I make cauliflower rice and mix it up. I was not eating meat but am slowly trying to add meat back into my diet. Maybe once a week.
For snacks I usually have nuts or fruit
When I was tracking my meals I was eating about 1500 to 2000 calories a day. I am 5'4 and 130lbs trying to get down to about 125 or 120.
Any advice would help. Also if anyone else has had the same experience on paleo let me know. There was a full moon last night so that may have made things extra crazy. Who knows?
