Been Paleo for about a year and for the last two months I have been having stomach problems. So I went to a Dr that is affiliated with Paleo Physicans Network. She took blood and ran some tests. Her diagnosis was that I was fully with poop. I was surprise because I go regularly everyday. She said I should lay off meat for awhile.
Any thoughts??? Has this happen to anyone else?
Instead of avoiding meat, better to increase other things in your diet like fat, probiotics, magnesium (natural calm is a good product) and gelatin. Eugenia has some great ideas.
Also squat when you poop, you'll get more complete movements that way. squattypotty.com
I got constipation when I first joined Paleo, this is how I fixed it: http://eugenia.queru.com/2011/11/15/fixing-constipation/
I have a sprained wrist so it's hard to type, but I had the same. Google veggies with their amounts of fiber and surprisingly, they don't have a lot. Google fruits too and you'll see a difference. I started eating 30 grams of fiber a day and now it's good :) Nuts, fruits, and veggies, reach those 30 grams and wait four days. I hope it gets better for you! Also drink lots of water and eat good fats like coconut oil, avocados (also a great source of fiber) and olive oil :)
In self-treating my own chronic constipation, I removed a lot of potentially disruptive substances from my diet, but only eliminating fructose (including in fruit and fruit juice) brought about lasting relief from from that condition, which had plagued me for well over a decade.
Fructose-elimination worked when eliminating dairy, wheat, all grains, starchy vegetables - alone or in combination - did nothing.
Fruit - especially fruit juice - was somewhat tough to give up, but the benefits have been worth that small sacrifice. I just wished I had discovered the connection far sooner.
