Hi I'm interested in starting the lean gains diet but don't know much about it. Does anyone have any information on it? Tips, and diet programs I could use.

leangains.com/2010/04/leangains-guide.html I might be wrong, but I think everything diet wise is explained on this page. I like that it breaks down how to eat when you are training at what time of day. I will be trying it soon. – Laura May 3 2012 at 1:24

John Berardi's guide to leangaing/fasting is much much easier to read than the original website...

Leangains is very simple. Squat/bench/deadlift along with a few accessory lifts, around three times per week. Eat a lot of protein every day. Eat lower carb on off days, much high carb for the two meals after lifting.

well summed up K. I have come to question though the need/reasoning of the "lower carb on rest days" thing. I do pretty much the protocol you list there but I eat the same on rest and non rest days and I'm doing fine. i just wonder if that's necessary is all. – ben61820 Mar 11 2012 at 22:04
Good point. The main thing might just be getting enough carbs after lifting. – Kamal Mar 12 2012 at 15:12

Simmer down, captain snarky. He asked for tips (and I'm assuming from people with a paleo perspective since he's on this site). Since lean gains isn't exactly paleo (he includes whole grains) maybe he just wanted to know how paleo folks institute this approach. If you don't have a tangible tip that can help him, please don't post. – jared Mar 16 2012 at 14:12

He will tell you what you need to know. people here might be able to answer a specific question once you have them.

I was told by someone doing a leangains/Paleo hybrid diet that you want Caribs before lifting g for meals and protein for post workiut but Kamal suggests the opposite. I just discovered lean gains the other day and would ale like to incorporate it but with a Paleo diet, like the other person. Could someone help clarify this for me? Much appreciated
