I am 18 years old , and I've had this one grey hair from middle/high school that I always cut short so its not visible. I was combing my hair yesterday and noticed that this grey hair has about 2 1/2 to 3 inches of black(natural colour) new growth. This corresponds with the approximate time I've been eating paleo (half a year or so). I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Yes, yes, yes! I have experienced the same thing. I noticed yesterday (after six week of eating LC Paleo) that the white/grey hairs on the side of my head were mostly back to dark brown. At least a 50% reduction. I am amazed, I thought grey was forever?? |

Greying hair is often the result of a copper deficiency interfering with melanin deposition in the hair follicle, so if you suddenly start eating copper-rich foods for the first time in your life (such as liver) then it would be probable that you'd address that deficiency. |

I have not, but I wish I would! I started finding a couple grays when I was about your age, and they've been steadily increasing :( Maybe one day... |

I had some white hair at a very young age (like 16). The white hair turned black again without me doing anything. I didn't even stop eating wheat at the time. |

Ive been on paleo 6 months and at 46 I never thought I could reverse greying hair. I do eat at least 1-3 oz of nuts (mainly Brazil nuts) a day. Brazil nuts have high copper content ( see http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3091/2 ) Ive gone from almost entirely grey, except at the back to only 1/3 of the front grey, and more and more brown coming back, it actually looks like Ive had brown streaks put in! I come from premature grey on BOTH sides of the family, so this is entirely unexpected! I was actually starting to look forward to the snowy white! Veronica |

The gray hairs don't really bother me. It's just losing my hair that sucks. If paleo can cure that, that'd be amazing. |

maybe it is your very young age, but at my ripe gray age, No, No, No, Good luck but stop worrying about such small things and make history for yourself. |

Hhmmm... no matter how well I eat, I fear at 33, the gray thing is a lost cause. They only move in one direction... |

My boss recently commented that the grey hairs on the side of my head are disappearing! Been pretty strict paleo for over a year. Wish I knew exactly what is causing the reversal; is it low pufa? increased healthy sat fat intake? Does anyone know exactly how/why this works? I've read over Danny Roddy's blog, but he pretty much covers the hair loss, not greying. |

First time I went paleo, for 3 monthes, the places where my hair is growing thin started to show some revival... this time (1.5 monthes so far), I'm wondering if it's going to grow back some! |

Just wish I had some hair to be grey! That would be a step in the right direction, I'd worry about the colour later :D |

Now that you mention it, I haven't been pulling out many grey's lately. That's pretty cool :) |
