I recently bought this from the health food store and I sometimes (once every two weeks or so) eat it with my paleo banana bread for breakfast. (at most a teaspoon. The ingredients are: grape juice concentrate, wild blueberries, gelling agent(pectin). Is this ok or am I eating SUGAR pure and simple?

Sounds tasty; eat it if you like it. – Travis Culp Mar 16 2012 at 15:18

I think it's food. I think it's fruit and fruit juice and pectin, not weird preservatives or coloring agents. Therefore, I think you should eat it and enjoy it and not worry about the few teaspoons of sugar you are going to eat.

Well, I think you are eating "SUGAR pure" and if you were consuming lots of it, I'd advise you to stop. Being that you only have that minuscule amount, I think you will be just fine. If you enjoy it and it's not having negative effects on you, keep on truckin'. IMHO.

It's pretty sugar-y. But that's not enough to DQ it from being paleo. A little bit of sugar is not the worst thing you could eat.
