I am supposed to have a low fructose diet. What fruits and vegetables should I consider eliminating or using less frequently because of their high fructose content.

I do not understand how carbohydrates (bread and pasta) break down to sugar. Are these foods I should watch also? Sheila

Is there a specific reason for a low fructose diet? (other than it's generally a good idea) – Jeff Mar 17 2012 at 13:49
You probably don't really need to worry about vegeables – Jeff Mar 17 2012 at 13:50

I assume you have fructose malabsorption or something like that? Anyways, the farting pear is a good reference. I think that website actually measure fructose and fructans, I don't know if they measure glucose. After all, foods higher in glucose than fructose should be okay.

Please do not eliminate fructose unless it really helps.

Interesting site. However a little questionable, while searching I ran across vodka and it was given a low rating because it could be made from a variety of fructose-containing foods. It's distilled and fructose doesn't distill... facepalm – Matt Mar 16 2012 at 21:44

Bread and pasta aren't things you should watch they are things you should run from. Cutting out all grains and dairy will help your sugar levels. And I've found for myself I need to limit fruits. I only now have berries and only like twice a week. While you're healing I would steer clear of white and sweet potatoes as well as starchy veg like butternut squash.
