Guys -

I love paleo and I'm not a big fan of cooking. I'd like food that tastes yummy that I can prepare with minimal effort.

Any suggestions on paleo meals that I can put together quickly and easily?

For example: my breakfast every morning is to put one egg into the microwave for 1 minute. I put tumeric on it and voila, ready to go! Gives me a good, quick boost to start the day with, takes a moment to do, and is perfectly paleo.

Suggestions?

(Note: other threads have been about snacks; I'm looking more for lunch, dinner suggestions)

I have been lokking for the same thing (ie. "QUick meals"). I mix lard and/or butter with meat and add turmeric, cayenne, paprika and ginger. I had recently posed a question as to whether mixing eggs with lard/butter after boiling them causes toxic cholesterol by-products. invest in a slow cooker. yep, it takes a lot of time to cook, so it would seem in contrast to what you are asking for... but if you put a decent amount of meat in it in the evening, you wake up to delicious smell of cooked meal, then you stuff the rest in the fridge and use alone or combine with other things for a number meals to come. I like to do it that way, very little time to prepare, and then just warm up and ready!

I slow cook a beef roast each week. I like broth, and for a two-pound roast, I use two cups of water. I add a few fresh chives and one cup of chopped celery. Sometimes a bit more celery or another vegetable, too. – PaleoGran Jan 1 2011 at 23:09
I slow cook a boston butt. 1 tbspn liquid smoke and 1 tbspn salt(rubbed into meat). 8hrs on low and when it's done I pull it out to shred for pulled pork. half gets bagged and tossed into the freezer and the other half become meals for later in the week. – Liana Jul 17 at 17:06

Eggs explode in the microwave, so assume you put it in a ramekin? My husband and I love to cook up egg muffins on Sunday for the week. Chop up peppers, onions, and your choice of meat, stir together with a dozen eggs an pour in muffin tins. Bake for 20 min on 350 and you have breakfast for the week!

I made these this morning (we topped with hollandaise) and then decided to make more for the week, but I adapted a quiche Lorraine w/out the crust and used 1 tablespoon of almond flour in place of flour & poured into the muffin tins. Tuna omelette fried in butter. Takes about 5 mins, but is great. I toss in some black pepper and sometimes some dried herbs.

The slow cooker is my best friend for quick and easy meals. Meal+spices+onions optional cabbage, tubers, peppers, etc. Dinner is ready when you get home. Works wonders with cheap tough cuts.

I'm the only paleo eater in my house and I don't like to cook, so I usually use the following formula:

butter + some kind of meat + perhaps a sliced vegetable/mushrooms + maybe an egg or two = meal

I put it all on a pan and turn on the heat. Then I wait until it is cooked. Easy!

Maybe I am a slob but I usually eat out of the pan, too. It tastes better that way and washing greasy dishes is avoided.

hash! try a Joe's Special (ground beef, spinach and eggs with or without parmesean) or any number of ground meat/egg/veg combos. Quick, cheap, tasty, filling.

An easy paleo-friendly dinner? Hmm... well you could cut a spaghetti squash in half (remove seeds), microwave it for 8 minutes. Then after the 8 minutes, take it out and pour marinara sauce directly into it (think Trader Joes - none of the added crap ingredients), and then microwave for one more minute. Take it out, and eat your spaghetti right out of the spaghetti squash.

If you have any leftover protein, you could also toss that in at the 8 minute mark to heat it up for serving.

1) Piles of cooked burgers, wrapped individually, stored in the fridge or freezer.

To re-heat, put in skillet with a bit of purified water (add fat, if needed), cover.

2) Hard-boiled eggs. I only eat the yolks. HB yolks and a cup of heavy cream are an easy, very quick meal.

3) Make a giant pot of soup. Another vote for slow cookers. Store in jars which are single-serving size. Easy to use. I buy whatever beef roast is on sale that week.

Nota Bene:

Whenever I cook anything, I make sure it is for several meals, unless it is something very special, such as steak.

Hey there. You seem to have some good ideas along the lines of what I practice. I am looking for meals that take no cooking(or massive amount of meat or other substance that can be refridgerated/froze then thawed for consumption on-the-go). Do you have any suggestions for a starving student who has minimal time and resources. I am mixing lard and/or butter with tuna in bernardin jars for quick meals for example. – PersonMan Mar 12 2011 at 5:00

Grainless cereal from Whole Foods is probably my new favorite "quick breakfast". Just eat it with almond milk or Coconut butter. I also have recently become a fan of coconut butter and bananas, but I suppose that's more of a snack.

Try the 'Nola on my blog, since it's probably similar and hopefully cheaper to make. I make it with nuts and coconut, and you could add dried fruit or top with fresh berries like my Beau does. Well, there are different flavors, but the one I'm eating right now has: apples, sprouted sunflower seeds, sprouted almonds, raisins, soaked walnuts, figs, cinnamon and apparently love. It's all organic. And delicious. – Bkluffy Sep 20 2010 at 22:26

I put a piece of foil on a cookie sheet and throw a slab of meat on it. Maybe sprinkle some spices, or maybe some parmesan, or maybe some blue cheese, or maybe nothing. You can plunk some veggies alongside if you like, to which I often add butter. Broil for about 20 minutes in the oven and then eat. I surf the net or take out the trash while it cooks. Cleanup is mostly done just by throwing out the foil.

A quickie salad which is spinach, tomatoes, parmesan and dressing can be a meal and if you have any leftover meat, throw it on top.

Put cheese on leftover meat and heat in micro or roll cheese inside leftover meat and eat as a wrap.

Throw fruit and coconut milk into the blender and you have a rather filling smoothie. I always rinse the blender immediately so that the liquid comes off easily and cleanup is a snap.

Find leftovers and stir fry em in a pan. Add a bit of soy sauce and garlic.

Obviously roasting and grilling takes a bit of time, but roasts can be thrown in the oven and left on their own while you do other things, and then you have several days worth of leftover meat. Roast chicken is also very easy--I just season it with garlic and herbs (and salt) and then roast it for about an hour. Tossed salads take a couple of minutes to throw together, and are great with any meat. Leftovers of course are great for lunches. I used to take a salad with leftover meat with me for lunch every day, but I now often skip breakfast and lunch and pretty much just eat a snack if I get hungry (hardboiled eggs, or nuts and fruit). Intermittent Fasting lets me cut down on the time I used to spend cooking since I don't eat as many meals. Another recipe that is really easy to use up leftover meats and is very quick is a Thai Green or Red Curry.

Check out Bar Harbor Wild Caught Fish in easy open cans. I get the smoked mackerel which has two ingredients--the fish and some salt. Just peel open the can and eat it. You can get it at Whole Foods I know and its a domestic product so its cheaper than imported stuff. If you want to get creative, you can squeeze a lemon on it or mix it with some paleo baconaise to make a fish salad. A big piece of rump or sirloin quickly fried with a panful of spinach steamed in butter - takes 5 mins max and is the best meal on earth!

Raw Frozen Wild Salmon. With Soy souce. Cut it in thin slices and dip it in say souce.
