Allright so this a weird thing. About two weeks ago I noticed a pungent odor and blamed it on an extended stay at the inlaws.
A week later... it's still here.
I noticed today that while eating a piece of pork I smelled a similar smell.
Problem is I only eat it 2 x a week and is my savior from a chicken thick diet. I've eaten the pork extensively for months and only noticed two weeks ago.
Any other ideas on what may cause this and get it stopped?
No, you're not alone. I have always smelled an odor with pork. When I still had my gallbladder, pork had to be boiled/simmered in water because whatever gave me a bellyache (and had that odor) was removed by cooking in water.
I still boil/simmer it because it tastes so much better to me that way. I "smell the smell" while it's cooking in water but it's gone from the pork when I eat it. Once it's fully cooked, I just stick it under the broiler to brown it a little or bake it in a sauce.
I don't know about you, but I don't have the odor problem with bacon and ham, which is nice although neither of those is a staple for me now.
I guess to clarify what I'm asking... Am I the only person that experienced this? Why is it, that I've at this way for months, but in the last two weeks just now experience the smell issue? How can I fix it? and is it worth losing a protein source over if you were in my situation?
Do you have an irrational fear of bacon?
Does bacon frying in a pan cause a lone tear to stream down your face?
If you wrap bacon in a piece of bacon, how does it make you feel?
Did the last sentence arouse anyone else beside me?
If you've answered yes or no to most of these, though I'm not a doctor, it would sound like you haven’t' developed a bacon allergy and life is still worth living.
As far as the smell goes…elimination diet…eat no pork for a day…the next day, eat nothing but pork…death by bacon…there’s worse ways to go.
