I have fallen in love with using Coconut oil for a moisturizer and lotion, and lip balm...and almost anything else you might suggest...

I'm wondering if anyone has used products from Tropical Traditions, their soap and 'toothpaste' specifically. I'd love to try them, I'm sold on the benefits, curious if there are any reviews out there.

I do the same! I'm curious about their products too... I use a sulfate free shampoo or no shampoo usually and just use coconut oil as a body wash / moisturizer and for shaving. It is amazing! I highly recommend it! A little essential oils for nice smell sometimes when I feel like it. I have no odor problems. – ov227 Mar 19 2012 at 3:43

I use coconut oil to make my own deodorant and toothpaste, and I love it. I tried using coconut oil for lip balm, but it makes my lips red and itchy, so I use tallow for my lips.

What is your recipe for toothpaste? – Alec Mar 19 2012 at 6:36
Coconut oil does that to my lips too. I like the tallow idea! – January Mar 19 2012 at 8:19
I use WellnessMama's remineralizing toothpaste, but without the diatomaceous earth. wellnessmama.com/2500/… – Sara S. Mar 19 2012 at 12:24

I love coconut oil too and use it on my face, as sunscreen and cooking..

I use coconut oil for my skin and hair. 1x a week, I put it on the ends of my hair. You've got to do a good job washing it out next morning, but it makes it very easy to comb through, soft and shiny.

It's a decent gel alternative if you don't need much hold, but you're definitely right about the washing requirements. For those who are "no 'poo" around here, coconut oil in hair doesn't work - it really starts to stink, as water won't get it all out, and the oil begins to go rancid. – WyldKard Mar 19 2012 at 17:29

I agree with Jen! Coconut oil is absolutely awesome for dry ends, but you do have to make sure you wash it out properly otherwise it'll be oily :/. I also find it helps moisturize dry skin on my feet which i can never seem to get rid of.

I've tried their toothpaste and wasn't a fan but it just wasnt pepprminty enough for me. But it works as far as teeth cleaning goes. I do have their liquid pump foamy soap and I do like that (lavender). I'm also a fan of their coconut oil and the palm shortening...I buy these things by the gallon. I'll just stick with toms of main non fluoride toothpaste for now.

coconut oil no doubt is a very good moisturizer but it is also good for hairs as it strengthens your hair from inside the scalp and provides shine and nourishment to them

I don't know how to properly use coconut oil for my hair. It made it oily for days.

But for skin, teeth, and everything else? Wonderful.
