Hi there. 5'1" female, 107lbs here.
I've been low-carb/gluten-free for more than 2 years and I recently discovered paleo and decided to go on a strict paleo diet a few days ago. I cut out rice, fruits, and nuts so I could lose weight. I've been eating more eggs, animal fats in the form of lamb fat, and am eating my usual veggies that I love. Last night I made a soup with lamb ribs and some vegetables and took out the lamb ribs and baked them in the oven. There were pieces of fat left over in the soup which I ate.
A couple hours later before bed my stomach hurt SO much. I rushed to the bathroom to throw up but nothing because it was hours earlier and I had taken a walk already. I forced myself to sleep after about half an hour but then I woke up at least 2 more times in the middle of the night but no throwing up. It's now the morning and I still feel crappy :( The thought of anything fatty is making me cringe right now.
Could anyone give me a possible explanation? I want to also add that since I've been strict paleo, I've lost a lot of my appetite which is great so I'm eating less too.
Ummm, you might just be sick... and if not there's no rule that you have to go low carb paleo. Follow your body and if you keep barfing, maybe you should see a doctor.
Sounds like you have a bug of some sort, and are disgusted by fat by virtue of having vomited very recently. Stay hydrated, eat stomach-gentle foods when you can, and see a doc if your illness persists!
It's probably not food poisoning or a stomach bug. The same thing happened to me a couple of times when I was first transitioning to LCHF. You probably went too high in fat too soon. Keep in mind that your body isn't used to taking in really high fat meals and that you need to transition to high fat. slowly. Raise your fat intake at a slower pace you'll avoid the problem again, I would expect. You also might want to have your gallbladder checked out - there could be stones causing blockages, particularly if you had quick weight loss in the past.
It sounds like you are terrified of eating "fat" based on the ingrained fear that dietary fat means body fat. It's not true. You are also pretty small and adding muscle will do more for your appearance than losing weight would. Practice relaxation techniques and try to trust your body to pick the right nourishing food.
I'm guessing food poisoning. It doesn't sound like that much fat to be considered extreme, and the thought or smell of fatty foods usually nauseates me when I do have food poisoning or some other stomach bug.
