Can't beat vitacost.com

I alternate using Dr. Bronner's and Nature's Way coconut oil for cooking. I don't notice a difference between them but they are both organic virgin unrefined. Lately I've been using Nature's Way more because it comes in a bigger container with a larger opening so it's not a tight squeeze for my hand when I scoop it out.
I see a lot of people who like Nutiva and Artisana brands.

I like Trader Joe's brand (although it's out of stock everywhere at the moment) and Nutiva. I think virgin = extra virgin when it comes to coconut oil - fellow hackers, please correct me if I'm wrong about that. Also, unrefined is best.

I love Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil. I use it for my hair and skin, as well as consume a tablespoon per day to help me with energy and digestion issues. I have to invest in a really big jar because I seem to go through it so fast!!

For skin and lips, I get the coconut oil for pets from Tropical Traditions. It tastes pretty bad, but it still has all the nourishing properties and it has really helped my keratosis pilaris, even as a refined oil! And my sister's dog loves it (the cat just confusedly pawed at it, though) if you have some pets who could benefit from it. It's actually on sale for 70% off right now if you're up for it.

For eating, I'm a real cheapskate and I'll never cough up the amount of money that some of the big-name brands cost, but even without cost as an issue, Vitacost's organic virgin coconut oil is surprisingly one of the best brands I've ever tasted, and it's really cheap ($19.95/54 oz).
Also, if you've never used Vitacost before you can get $10 to spend just for signing up through the referral program (full disclosure: I get $10 if you buy something, so everyone wins) which makes it even cheaper.

When I don't buy it online, I get Trader Joe's organic virgin coconut oil, which is definitely subpar in terms of taste but it's very decently priced. And if you want a more neutral flavor in cooking, then it's a good one to have compared to the more aromatic, coconutty oils out there.

I like both Nutiva and Tropical Traditions. I use it in my coffee and I fry my eggs in it. I also make awesome coconut bark. Melts in your mouth and is so delicious.

Their coconut oil is really yummy and they have cheap sample lots so you can try it first. I really like it! (BTW I'm not affiliated with them or anything, I just really like their coconut oil and I wasted a lot of money trying some other brands that had a funny NQR taste).

I go through coconut oil so fast, it always surprises me. Love it in coffee.

I like nutiva, artisana and Maison D'Orphee. I can get Nutiva for the least money locally ( about $38/ 54 0z). I will by whichever of those are on sale and cold pressed organic, but the quality appears to be similar.

Coconut oil is such a staple this is something I'm always looking for myself (since it's so damn expensive.) I know Oija makes good stuff, I get mine from Aknightsarmor.com since it's the cheapest I've found. I'll have to check out the above recommendations though and do some math crunching. Thanks!

Buy DME (Direct Micro Expelling), meaning its raw, unprocessed and all the nutrients are intact. We plan on buying a huge tub (20 kg). That way we can share with family and friends and keep costs down. People are catching onto it and the prices are rising!

I Love TIANAs Extra Virgin Coconut oil... I have tried many brands but this one retains all the health benefits and can be used for more than just cooking. Definitely HIGH QUALITY. It's Organic, Fair Trade and 100% raw.

For New Zealand/Australia residents: Blue Coconut for the processed kind (contacted the manufacturer to gather some infos in terms of processing procedure and this stuff is as good as it gets for a processed oil; no chemicals used whatsoever); Zenian for the virgin coconut oil.

Only ever buy Nutiva cos it always seems to be the best value. Tastes great too

I like Nutiva and Tropical Traditions. In fact, there is no strict standard of 'vrigin' coconut oil. Try to understand the production process when comparing different brands.

i've tried so many coconut oils and the best tasting one i've had is trader joe's. it so cheap compared to others and the quality is amazing.

Hi, I like using Coconad coconut oil. It is the product of KLF Industries. KLF Coconad is a 100% pure premium coconut oil made with the finest copra extracts of Kerala. This is the best cooking oil manufactured in Kerala. This Coconut oil is considered as the best edible oil.

The ideal oil would be organic, fair trade, unrefined, hand-milled, non-gmo, virgin/extra-virgin(don't be fooled into paying more because these words are interchangeable for coconut oil.), unheated (the word raw is just advertising here because the coconut growing in tropical conditions can get VERY hot inside. You just don't want the processor to be cooking the oil before you get it. Some methods like expelling and centrifugal can also get heated to high temps.) If you also worry about eco friendliness then your oil should come from a family plantation that isn't in Asia. The oil should also smell and taste like coconut.

My preferred brand is the Tropical Traditions. I wait for free shipping and/or a sale on what I want. In a pinch I can also make my own.

I'm in the UK, I buy biona (from dolphin fitness). That seems to be the best option in terms of cost and quality - it's raw and organic.

Has anyone heard of the Clover Brand Coconut Oil. It has no smell. It doesn't say unrefined but it says 100% coconut oil. Also is there a bit significant difference between using a refined or unrefined coconut oil (in regards to cooking, hair use, and skin use)?
