I'm now entering into, I think, my sixth week of following paleo/primal. Spring arrived early in Indiana and since my allergies (allergic to trees, mold, grass--hay fever basically) are in full swing, I've been craving carbohydrates, which I haven't in the past 6 weeks. Pre-paleo living I had to drag myself through late March to mid-May. I was hoping that with my new way of living, there would be less "drag". Any ideas for reviving my energy level as I slog through hay-fever season? Any natural remedies? Right now taking claritin (non-drowsy) and nose spray (Astilin). Thanks.

I highly recommend finding a local honey source and taking a spoonful each day. The honey contains pollen from your allergens and will help your body to accustom itself to the allergens in your area. I swear this works. I use it in the Spring when my grass allergies start acting up! |

Hi, Jenn. :) You might like something in this thread, on the subject of pollen allergies: I don't know about the pollen causing carb cravings. Perhaps it is related to histamine irritation, or estrogen? That Paleo Guy, Jamie Scott, has a bit of information on that, in his post on histamine intolerance: |
