I've been following Ray Peat's advice pretty closely the past 2 weeks due to thyroid issues and am feeling a lot better. Staples include orange juice, 2% milk, eggs, some cheese, shellfish, some beef, potatoes, etc. Also will throw in some starches like white rice and sweet potatoes.
One thing I've noticed though is my face is producing wayyyy more oil than usual. I usually have pretty dry skin, so it's not the worst thing in the world. It's very noticeabley oiler though, especially forehead and "T-zone" on the face. Does anyone have any ideas to what this could be?
I know I have heard this discussed, but after TONS of reading and podcasts, it all gets blurry. Its something to do with the increased milk/calcium speeding your metabolism up and burning through your vitamin A -or something like that. Watch Josh Rubins Videos and I think a good explanation is there. Maybe its one of the milk videos. I broke out like a greasy teen when I started eating Peat style. Finally I just gave up on the bulk of the liquid milk (still do cheese and cream in the coffee) and my skin went back to clear and awesome. I wasn't adding vitamin A (liver or supplement) at the time, so I am not sure if that whole theory works out.
