How often does everyone cheat? What's an acceptable amount of time in between cheats and do you cheat at family events like parties and the holidays?

Seems like it's often more unhealthy to think of these things as "cheats" as it is to just eat them on occasion because the circumstances warrant it. – Travis Culp Apr 3 2012 at 2:06

Well, I've answered this question at least twice already:

Search around, this topic has been widely discussed.

I think for most people this evolves over time. It's not unusual to have a few "couldn't help myself" in the early months, then as health/control improve it becomes a personal choice but rarely involves frequent/massive neo-binges.

Exactly. This is basically my suggestion. Holiday's are a definite cheat, but I keep it to the event. None of this "until the leftovers are gone" stuff. – Derek Apr 2 2012 at 20:53

I've been paleo for about 2 months now and I cheat almost once a week. It's usually if we go out to dinner. I'll keep paleo in mind when ordering, but not get too picky about my meal. It's always somewhat planned and it's always a give and take. I might order fish that has a bit of rice with it, but skip the dessert. I have had a couple of bigger cheats, but they made me feel crummy, so I'm less likely to do that very often.
