Are there any nonpaleo foods you still eat with any kind of regularity? What obvious cheats do you still have in your fridge? For me, it's ranch dressing and mayo, because I like em and I am too lazy to make my own and can't find any store brands that don't have canola oil in em. There are other cheats I may partake in with rarity, but those are the two chronic offenders that are actually still in my house, eaten, and then replaced by me again on a regular basis.

Worse yet- all the dressings now have soybean oil in them. – henny Sep 26 2010 at 4:09

Good Scottish Haggis. It does have oats in, but it also has heart, liver and lungs.

This morning for my breakfast I had fresh hot venison haggis with neeps and tatties from a stall at the Edinburgh farmers market (not my photo).

That looks amazing! – CT Sep 25 2010 at 13:06
holy hell, id say the good amount of offal, and the overall kicka$$edness of this thing, cancel out the oats this time:) – ben61820 Sep 25 2010 at 14:05
It should really be in the "not technically paleo but still awesome" catagory :) – Matt Sep 25 2010 at 15:17
Good Lord, is that a dagger in the haggis? That really is so WWGD (what would grok do). I think I'll start incorporating more weaponry in my food too. – Shilpa Nicodemus Sep 25 2010 at 15:29
I'd say as far as paleo/primal eating goes, that is one hell of a "sensible vice" haha! – Daniel Sep 25 2010 at 17:11

Sushi. I lean heavily towards sashimi, but when my itamae brings something he made personally for me. I eat it. I have informed him that wheat makes me sick, but he will bring me things with Rice sometimes

I devour it happily.

Dairy, cream and butter. Call it addiction, can't think of any other reason.

I'm not ready to give up my dairy desserts just yet. Also, hummus.

Sushi every once in awhile. I regularly use raw butter from grass fed dairy cows. Overall, I don't think these are that bad. I never cheat with gluten.

Eden Foods' Hot Sesame Oil: a dribble or two over some finished protein is seriously delicious. Hate the omega6/possible rancidness of it but it is so dang good.

Dark chocolate and goat yogurt. Not gonna give those up ever ever ever!

for the life of me I can't say good bye to heavy cream, cheese, and butter (they mainly come from grass fed cows when I can find them)

Peanut butter! It's my absolute favourite food and I don't want to give it up occasionally.

Agreed. Peanut butter/peanuts - gotta have it now and then. – Dave S. Sep 27 2010 at 17:27

Craft beers. Poison - but there is a social aspect to act of drinking beer I find hard to avoid. And it is more common for me to be around beer drinkers than lets say red wine or tequila drinkers.

Sushi & ice cream... but they are rare cheats, and not something I eat often.

High-fat cheese every now and then. It's just...so...tasty...and...HIGH in saturated fat!

dont forget about Vitamin K, CLA and other goodies... I just wish I knew how well my gut handled Casein, I dont "notice" ill effects, but the potential is mildly concerning... Love my hard cheese and butter. – Stephen-Aegis Sep 26 2010 at 15:30

I could never stop at just one spoonful - I definitely don't have that much self control! – Marisa Sep 26 2010 at 21:37

ketchup. I found one without sugar and very simple ingredients, I am too lazy to make my own. But I use it very rarely.

When I am visiting and someone made food which is gluten free, but has some grains or sugar. Like today my friend made lasagna with rice noodles and rice flower ginger cake. it was good and I feel the social ties are important.

oh, and dairy- cream, butter. sometimes chocolate.
