Well it has been 4 months since the start of my paleo journey and I couldn't be happier. My friend gave me primal blueprint to read around the fall of 2011 and of course it took me a few months to open it, once I did I read every Paleo book I could download onto my kindle. Cavemen had Kindle right? Well anyways the lifestyle change started on Jan. 1st, 2012. I weighed an impressive 362 lbs. The biggest I had ever been. Today I weighed myself and my trusting number counter read 312 lbs. I know I still have a long way to go but I figure 50lbs in 4 months is a good start right?

Just curious as to see where other New Years people are? Also curious as to see how other people with a lot of weight to lose are doing?

WOW! Amazing accomplishment. Keep up the good work. I started in the beginning of December with the intention of giving it up during the holidays. I felt so good that I ended up sticking with it through the holidays and am still going strong (mostly). There was one notable event involving eggnog...I think eggnog and I have parted as enemies, for life. – Marcy Apr 12 2012 at 14:55

I'm a New Year's resolutioner this year. I downloaded all my books to a nook. I started at 386.8 and this past Monday was at 346.8 so an exact 40 lbs. I'm in Alaska and my low impact workouts were limited by weather. I hope to see a slight increase in loss as the weather improves. I am now walking more and shoveling snow in my yard for workouts. My neighbors think it odd that I shovel snow for no real reason, but my arm and chest muscles feel great. Good work! Nice to hear another big guy is in a similar place with similar results. – westroxel Apr 12 2012 at 19:01

Congrats on your success JMack!

I am not a New Years person, but I am a person with a lot of weight to lose. My highest weight was 265lbs (I'm a 37 year old woman, 5'6") and in a perfect world I would be thrilled to weigh 150lbs...

I started Paleo in October 2010 at about 240lbs. I had a hard time sticking to it until the past month or so when I finally accepted that I have an autoimmune disease and, for me, there can be no "cheating." At least not any cheating that involves gluten, dairy or soy. I have currently also cut eggs and nightshade veggies.

I also changed my mindset from focusing on what I couldn't eat to what I could eat.

This morning the scale said 216.8. The lowest I've seen so far was 212.4, but that was late 2011 and before I was totally committed. I managed to get back up to 225, so I'm on my way back down. Looking forward to lab work (and trying to be super duper strict until then) at the end of May to see if I can make a difference from that perspective, but even if that doesn't change I feel terrific.

Congrats again and best of luck to you!

Congratulations, you're doing great! That's really, really excellent weight loss for where you started!

I'm a "New Years Resolution’er" from 2009->2010. I was living "Paleo Diet"-like for a bit before then (as I slowly evolved my diet from personal experience), and finding the general Paleo/Primal community was a very happy experience. My weight loss has been a slow, steady journey, but it's a journey I've enjoyed. I'm finally in a "getting super fit" phase, and enjoying that, too.

Good luck with your journey! Congrats, again!

Here! I'm a daily lurker, but not much of a poster.

I'm definitely a NY resolutioner who's stuck around. I'm a 33 year old woman, 5'10 and started at 246 lbs and weigh 205 today. My life has changed! I'm also breastfeeding so I was a little hesitant about supply issues but I jumped in anyway and watched close. Everything has been great.

Never looking back!
