It would help to know where you're located. – stephthegeek Sep 27 2010 at 18:37

Places I shop:

  • amazon.com's grocery section has some great deals on things like organic coconut milk!
  • freshdirect.com, but it's NYC regional
  • I look for meat sales at D'Artagnan

My friend says he likes the meat he orders at 8'o Clock Ranch

Local Harvest website lists all sorts of farm and animal products, and many of the sources there deliver or ship to you!

http://www.localharvest.org/

I used it to find quail eggs that were raised near(er) my home. Fresh! Delivered! mmmmm!

I need to stop looking at this http://www.localharvest.org/store/meats.jsp

Drooling!

US Wellness Meats of course... I'm in the SF Bay area and use Eating with the Seasons (produce, sometimes meat) and The Foragers (meat and more meat!). Neither deliver straight to your door, but have lots of drop-off locations. I've used Brandon Natural Beef in the past, and they were good, I think they actually ship to continental US as well as doing deliveries in SF bay area. I think I found pretty much all of these using http://www.localharvest.org/.

**www.pastureraised.net They're new online, but have been shipping grass-fed meats for many years. They're private club based. They send completely fresh and unfrozen meat on a weekly basis. Since they are a private membership only group they put all of the animals down on the farm and are able to supply every single part of the animal you could imagine. (and I do mean every single part - just name it)

Derived solely from Pennsylvania Amish farmers. The farms are completely organic in their implementation. Year-round pasture-grazing. Maturity of wild grasses in a cyclical fashion allows for remineralization of topsoil. They also provide completely soy-free birds of different kinds (ducks, chicken, geese and all of the eggs as well).

The coordinators are extremely knowledgeable and explain the entire animal rearing processes to potential members. I've been ordering from them now for almost a year and have noticed dramatic improvements in health just from switching to the quality that they offer.

They also tend to work with many individuals who eat a predominantly raw paleo diet (I haven't moved too far in that direction yet...) and state that these members have really helped enhance standards of quality from start to finish.

They offer non-paleo foods as well (depending on which theories you adhere to). I actually tend to believe that certain hunter-gatherer groups were adept at procuring things like dairy and would consume it from slain lactating animals (topic for another discussion). So they do offer raw dairy. It is high-quality. Although for me personally, meat constitutes a greater portion of my diet. Nonetheless, I consume the dairy moderately and it seems to integrate very well. I know of others who consume it daily with very good results. To each their own.

I won't keep going on, as this was just my first post here. If you wanted more info just go to their landing page at pastureraised.net. It explains how to sign-up.

The reason I even posted this was b/c I was also looking to add a few more mail order sites to my current list. I appreciate some of the other responses here (even though I've combed through localharvest and even eatwild pretty extensively).

Staying in line with this topic, would anyone know of game processors that ship? I'm located in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. I'd really like to locate wild game processors willing to ship or even local ones with an excess steady supply of fresh meat. I have fiends that hunt but they don't seem to have a steady surplus. A bit obscure of a request, I know. Maybe I could make a separate thread for this?... but any response would be deeply appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

@WBR: thanks for the pastureraised link by the way. Ive already emailed and spoke with them and im getting ready to place our first order. You might've just given us a way to get substantially more grassfed meat in our diets. Cheers. – ben61820 Oct 9 2010 at 13:48
Thanks for this post. I've been ordering from US Wellness and Slankers for years, but this looks like it might be worth switching to. – Rob from ketocure.com Dec 9 at 15:13
You asked about companies that ship wild game. One of the best-known companies of this type is Broken Arrow Ranch. Of course this stuff is very expensive. brokenarrowranch.com/Shop/index.php. Here's another one that I just found with Google. gourmetwildgame.com/category/yak.html. Search with Google; there are quite a few. – Rob from ketocure.com Dec 9 at 15:21

Does your [insert-major-regional-grocery-chain-here] store do online delivery? Safeway does and that's how I get most of my weekly groceries.

Also look for local CSAs/meat CSAs.

paleobrands.com is one source. You might look locally for a meal delivery service that will customize. Chef by Request used to offer a paleo plan, seems they only offer zone meals (the 40-30-30 macronutrient ratio) now.

Paleo with Zone proportions... such garbage. =( – JJ Sep 27 2010 at 13:14
