I am currently bulking up , due to the lack of calories AND calcium in my diet, I decided to reintroduce whole milk. It's freakin delicious btw , but the problem is that the bad gas I used to have prior to becoming Paleo is BACK. I am also having loose stools. I am 17 year old and I don't know whether I should be sweating the small stuff.

Un-reintroduce dairy? Sounds like dairy intolerance. – JeJ Apr 14 2012 at 21:00
Lactose intolerance, try lactase enzymes. Also Greek yogurt. – dsohei Apr 14 2012 at 21:31

I don't see the point in force feeding yourself a cocktail of food you can't digest with something to digest it. Eat things your body can naturally handle.... – Satchmo Apr 14 2012 at 23:06
Lactase supplementation? See if that mitigates the problems. – Matt Apr 15 2012 at 12:53

Yeah, about that GOMAD stuff. It will make you gain weight, fat weight that is. – Bill1102inf Apr 15 2012 at 16:13

Dairy should be introduced slowly and gradually to avoid issues, if you aren't use to it and especially if you are intolerant. Coconut milk (in moderation) will be a great solution as well as the other carbs that people are suggesting, meat, eggs, avocado, sweet potatoes, coconut oil.

Why suffer? Have you tried full fat cream (to test), just curious if there are some dairy products that bother you more/less than others.

I'd suggest you try goat milk/cheese/yogurt instead of cow, since the goat/sheep casein is much more tolerable than that of cows (use only cream/butter from cows). If problems persist, then try home-made goat kefir (36 hours fermentation) or probiotic yogurt (24 hours fermentation), and hard goat/sheep cheeses. Most of lactose will be gone this way. If that doesn't work either, try calcium-fortified almond/coconut milk and get calcium vitamins.

Easiest way to supp calcium is calcium carbonate. – dsohei Apr 14 2012 at 21:33
Or just eggshell calcium, which seems to be the best calcium source after milk. – Korion Apr 15 2012 at 6:08

Like Sunny Beaches said it sounds like dairy intolerance. Those are classic symptoms. Have you reintroduced anything else into your diet?

You should look at other options for bulking like carb loading (sweet potatos and the like), eggs, meat, etc... I'm not an expert though so can't really say much more on that.

Sounds like you have a dairy intolerance. Have you had the same reaction with kefir? Some people who don't do well with milk are okay with fermented dairy. That way, you'll get to have something you think is "delicious" and get the benefits of a probiotic food.

+1 for experimenting with dairy kefir. Also, you can experiment with raw dairy, non-cow-dairy (goat, sheep). – HA Apr 14 2012 at 20:45
Yep. Definately Kefir. I went from being lactose intolerant all my life to drinking whole milk with no problems after daily kefir. – MrsD Apr 14 2012 at 21:25
