Anyone here tried paleo pasta - paleopasta.com? I love this stuff....any feedback?

Agree we need to be careful. Are food like these paleo? I would say no. Does that mean you can't enjoy them ever. Of course not. This is the problem with the term paleo. Easy to co-opt, brand, (even the literal term paleo makes it impossible to justify most foods) but at the same time could introduce people to healthy alternatives.

Where I stand is that I say its not paleo, but since it's safer than the conventional form it can have its place. So it could be a great substitute at parties, family events, holidays, etc.

If you find yourself making these paleo processed part of your daily diet, then you are doing it wrong, and missing the point.

yea as a long term paleo person i would agree however lara bars are the only thing i would trust just my 2 cents!!

I agree with the sceptics, too much processing can't be good, but I wonder if anyone has tried kelp noodles (they contain only kelp, salt and water)?

Not sure how different this is from other gluten-free pastas, other than it's being marketed as paleo and uses relatively benign (from a paleo POV) ingredients. I would say not a staple, but not terrible.

I've personally got little desire to eat pasta that's not zucchini.

It might be acceptable occasional post-work out or as a cheat since it's at the higher end of carbohydrate. I would not consume this food while having any autoimmune, gut or health issue.

Egg whites can be allergenic for some. They also block Vitamin B6 (Biotin), iron, and some digestive enzymes.

Xanthan gum is a gut irritant for some and that is why some people have issues with brands of coconut milk containing it.

Starter food at best, try using zucchini. Processed food is wrong food. Until they found the Paleo 7-11s, I'm sticking with REAL.

I think in general it's a sign of the trouble ahead for the "paleo" movement which is, an inundation of processed paleo foods. There's a huge opportunity here for marketing new products and, as has happened in the past, people will soon be jumping on board and buying products just because the label says "paleo" (like they did with "healthy" and "lowfat"). I think the best paleo food is real, unprocessed food. Those noodles probably won't kill you but you could get much more density of nutrients by using something like spaghetti squash are zucchini strings. Just my 2 cents!

That's my reaction as well. Having broken my addiction to processed foods, I am averse to beginning a relationship with "paleo" processed food-like products. I don't use nut-meal flours, etc., and my "processed" items are olive oil, butter, home-made yogurt, etc. That said, eating something like the noodles once a month wouldn't be a problem in my view--although I personally like spaghetti squash. – Nance Apr 17 2012 at 16:32
