Some people include in their low carb flu symptoms things like swollen glands and worse acne. This sounds like candida die-off. They both involve fatigue and general malaise

Are they the same thing? How can you tell if you have one or the other or both?

Should you handle them differently?

You can't really tell them apart. On the SCD diet it's called "bacterial die-off", in the candida/GAPS circles it's called "candida die-off", in the Paleo circles it's called "carb flu", and in the keto circles it's called "keto flu". In reality, it's the same thing, a mix of both bad organisms die due to less sugar food for them, and going through sugar withdrawal yourself. Toxins are released, and everyone starts feeling bad. But you survive, they don't.

nicely put. think you are right and we are talking about various symptoms caused by multiple triggers – Freelenz Jul 27 at 12:46
I disagree, I am eating quite a lot of carbs from my hemp protein and I also eat some fruit. And I still get these symptoms. I would say it's your body detoxifying itself, not the candida dying. – dan Aug 16 at 12:45
