It's kinda hard to take this guy seriously. First of all he keeps reffering to his magical erectile book, and I'd also like to know the many studies that show the "power" of grains. The power to make people sick? The article is filled, filled, filled with assumptions that don't make sense. Here are some examples of weird stuff :
If he's talking about Loren Cordain etc., I think he has some valid points (eg. the usual low-carb, lean meats, potatoes-are-evil craze), but IMO it's just a guy trying to sell his ridiculous book. You have no idea how many people make "scientific" books about health. Think about the apple-only-diet against acne that even got featured in the news. It sickens me. Even I know more than most of those dudes, yet I won't be crazy enough to think that I can write a book telling people how to eat to cure their ailments. If you've got some anecdotes to share, share it in a forum. But please, don't make a book about your anecdotes! The funniest part is his references. It's like something I'd write for school for an assignment : I'd just take random references that make a bit of sense and add them at the end to show I've done "research". Sad part is that it worked. I think it's fairly established now that animal products (vegetarian or not) are of utmost importance in any healthy diet. What troubles me about the health community is the use of studies as proof of something. Everybody thinks he/she's a scientist nowadays. I'm afraid some people are even prepared to lie just to be right. I've already said this before : an evolutionary perspective might not be optimal, at least it's natural and that's already a hell of a lot better than the SAD. When logic doesn't provide an answer yet, evolution can do the trick. |

Among the 5 references he used to make his assumptions is Wikipedia. I know there are some legit things on Wikipedia, but if you want to be taken seriously you're better off sourcing your junior high guidance counselor |

Peak Erectile Strength Diet? Huh? What are you reading? Penis envy again???? Okay, let's start with the basics - who is Lee Myer? Have you seen this guy's picture? I bet he needs not only diet - he needs all kind of things to get his peak erectile strength. What is his educational background? I don't see any PhD attached to his name. How does he know how to achieve peak erectile strength? Is he a male porn star? I would like to see how well he can perform - preferably documented in APA format. If you really want peak erectile strength, diet and supplements won't do. You need something else. But that's not Paleo topic anymore. |
