Other than salmon...what are the best/most concentrated sources of omega3? I know walnuts have omega 3 but don't they have a lot of omega 6/PUFAs too?

I think seafood is your best bet.

Here's a chart that gives you a list of high omega-3 seafood choices, in addition to omega-6 content. For the top seafood sources, I'd stick to Alaskan salmon, herring, sardines, trout, shrimp and oysters to eat regularly (lower on the food chain so less toxins, more sustainable methods of capture). Mackerel and tuna tend to be higher in mercury and toxins. alt text

Other sources if you want to vary it up a bit/don't like that much seafood (but the 3-6 balance isn't as nice looking as it is in a lot of seafood):

Whoa, why is there such a huge variation--anywhere from 100-1200mg of OMG3 in 100 grams of lamb? – ladyp Apr 24 2012 at 2:30
Hm, maybe it depends on the age of the lamb at slaughter and the feed it received? – Sunny Beaches Apr 24 2012 at 2:34
wow--thank you so much for the wonderful information!! I have chia seeds at home and was thinking of sprouting them before eating them. do you think this would impact the omega 3 amount? – RR Apr 24 2012 at 3:33

Fish caviar, burbot or cod liver. I just gut one kilo of smelts and got 100grams of caviar. Also bought one pound of whitefish caviar. Omega 3s, EPA, K2, caviar has it all! :)

Sardines and mackerel. Walnuts have lots of omega 6, as well as the less useful type of omega 3s (ALA, not EPA or DHA)
