So I'm sure this headline will make its way around fairly quickly. Jail time in NC for blogging and giving advice about the paleo diet. Could this set a precedent in other states? Or does NC have unique wording of relevant laws? Would that mean this website should get censored in NC?

He wasn't just blogging, he was offering one-on-one consultations for a fee. – January Apr 24 2012 at 5:17
carolinajournal.com/exclusives/… They also take issue with his suggesting a specific diabetes diet, which is medical advice. And he also pissed off a bunch of CW nutrition experts at a conference by telling them they were all wrong, on their own turf. Not smart. There's an older thread somewhere on PH about it. – January Apr 24 2012 at 5:31

I read that as "Legal Bagels". I think that's the one thing I'm missing since starting... – Blitherakt Apr 24 2012 at 19:59

Sadly as this lifestyle gains more awareness and popularity I think we'll see more and more of this.

There's too much money in CW for them not to put up an almighty fight...

Interesting story, but what the hell is this paragraph supposed to mean:

"The paleo diet--a passionate fad and/or lifestyle change of an enormous number of folk I know concentrated in the world's of libertarianism, futurism, space, and your basic "new digital economy" (does that still exist?) and the places where all those interests intersect--may or may not save you from diabetes, give you the pep you need, or revert you back down the evolutionary chain, or whatever it's supposed to do."

I mean, if you're going to employ some snark, at least learn how to use (or not use) apostrophes and other punctuation.

I assume they are also shutting down bloggers that advocate a low fat diet with plenty of whole grains...

Sometimes I'm ashamed to be from North Carolina.
