We always read about how getting 8-9h of sleep is a big part of being healthy. On the other side, we always get told "We should listen to our body" I´m often laying awake and fit after just 5-6h of sleep (my room´s dark at night, roller blind), should one force himself t sleep again? Because for me, that´s almost impossible, when I´m awake, I AM awake.

The "8 hours" adage is an average. People vary. That's just the middle of the bell curve. And people's sleep needs will also change with age, stress levels, exercise, medications, mental health, alcohol consumption, diet, blah blah blah. So even over your own lifetime, the amount of sleep you need at age 10 will be different from the amount of sleep you need at 20, 35, 50, etc... If you feel alert, refreshed, and well-rested, and are not feeling like you have dysfunction due to lack of sleep... then you do not have a sleep problem. Just know that it might change at some point if your current conditions change (any one of those factors can change your sleep needs), and that's also normal. |

If you feel rested after only 6 hours of sleep, and you then proceed through the day with no problems while loving life only to sleep again for 6 hours and feel just as good, healthy and happy then I would quit looking for problems. |

Ketosis (low-carb) makes people sleep less. Have you been eating low-carb lately or exercising intently? |

I only need 5-6 hours of sleep a night too. I don't worry about it cause it gives me more time in the day to get things done. |
