I was talking about procrastination in a comment to another question on how we could be more primal, and it made me wonder if Grok would have procrastinated.

My initial thought would be no, because there would have been survival consequences to most; however, surely everything Grok did wasn't necessary and wouldn't have killed him if he put it off for a few hours/days.

So, what do you think? Did Grok procrastinate and, if so, what tasks did he avoid?

Or should I just get back to work on my paper and stop trying to justify procrastination as an acceptable paleo pastime?

Procrastination doesn't exist when you don't have impersonal external demands: you do what you need to do, and if you didn't do it, then it wasn't necessary to do, was it?

Suppose Grok knows he needs to hunt to store for winter coming up, but doesn't feel like it today. Still necessary to do, but might he put it off anyway? – Eric Apr 25 2012 at 0:36
Did Grok have a winter? – College Apr 25 2012 at 2:06

I agree. Had a similar comment on another question: paleohacks.com/questions/111212/… – Mike T Apr 25 2012 at 3:44
I'd have to think Grok had a winter... or at least some menial work he didn't really feel like performing. But I do agree with the idea that modern society gives us a lot of BS work we need to do even when we feel little value from it and that this is the source of much of my procrastination when it occurs. – Eric Apr 25 2012 at 22:22

NO! Get off Paleohacks and write your paper. Rush through it and get a really crappy draft done. Then go back and revise. Then reward yourself with a giant grass-fed ribeye. Let the juices dribble on your A+ paper and be happy. It is preferable if this tableau occurs in the sunlight and if you are barefoot.
