My 26th birthday is next week and I want to make dessert, dang it!

Now, normally i'd probably take this opportunity to make one my most favorite (SAD) desserts: German chocolate cake or homemade chocolate pie; however, I am just coming off my Whole30 next Tuesday and that's a little too close for me to dive head first into the gluten/refined sugar/milk chocolate binge.

So I ask, what are your favorite paleo desserts? Recipes would be helpful :)

Thanks, PHers!

Happy birthday! Coconut creme brûlée?

Recipe: http://gotnomilk.wordpress.com/2009/06/25/coconut-creme-brulee/

(and I'd suggest coconut sugar :)

For my birthday last Sunday I went with an amazing barely barbecued ribeye steak... So good!

Happy Birthday! You should have whatever you want on your birthday. My favorite dessert right now is my "sundaes" and they fit within my typical dairy/fruit intake since I usually have yogurt every other day anyhow.

I make extra-fat home-made yogurt (3 parts whole milk, 1 part heavy cream). I freeze fruit in advance, usually banana and berries (I sometimes buy the berries already frozen.)

  • 1/2-2/3 cup yogurt
  • sliced frozen banana
  • 1/2 c frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 c frozen raspberries

It's a flip of traditional sundaes, since the yogurt is refrigerated and the fruit is frozen BUT it's amazingly good if you've been off sugar for a while. I think it's easier to eat it slow with frozen fruit than fresh which is another plus as the treat lasts much longer.

Here are all of our's. Though we'd ditch "Paleo-fied" and go with "grain-free" in many cases ;)

happy birthday!

Thanks Bill and Haley! Actually one of my top choices so far are those cupcakes you made for your dad's birthday. They look sooooo delicious! – DanielleO812 Apr 25 2012 at 2:03
*Hayley, I mean. :) – DanielleO812 Apr 25 2012 at 2:04
Haha, no problem. Yes, those were delicious indeed (decadent / dangerous - take your pick). Hope you enjoy them if you make them! – The Food Lovers Apr 25 2012 at 2:41
I made lemon cheesecake from Bill and Haley's cookbook for my birthday, and it was insanely delicious. – Annika Apr 28 2012 at 22:15

Panna cotta! One of my all time favorites, but lately even that much cream is enough to make me itch. So... I recommend po'e, made with arrowroot instead of cornstarch.

I made this once, wrapped in banana leaves but cooked on a charcoal grill, and it was too good for words.

Organic Strawberries dipped in Scarffen Berger Baking chocolate with vanilla coconut whipped cream. I've been thinking of tinkering with an almond shortbread recipe too.

My 22nd birthday was the day in which I decided to fully implement Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint, and instead of cake I opted for the cookies in the link below. Delicious. The success of that first primal dessert was incredibly encouraging in my journey toward better health.

I LURVE these pumpkin coconut custard cups. http://nomnompaleo.com/post/12318335046/paleo-pumpkin-coconut-maple-custard-cups

I don't really like this sort of thing normally, but I scraped my ramekin clean.
