Do any of you do eye exercises to improve your vision, or just to relieve computer/tv strain (or other activites that cause strain such as reading, knitting, needlework etc.)? If you do, describe some of the things you do and how it has helped. I am generalizing here but it seems that most people neglect/abuse their eyes and considering our eyes do so much for us lol. If any of you wear glasses and have improved your vision with eye exercises, I would also love to hear about that(I don't wear glasses by the way).

I read a lot about "ocular fitness" when I was reading Yoga books. They recommended a whole host of exercises that included:
There were many more (I feel like I should do a post on this now that I am thinking abou it!) and I still do them from time to time. They do help relieve eye strain from too much TV, computer, etc. and I feel like they are quite challenging because we typically don't focus our attention so deeply on the small muscles of the eye. |

I roll my eyes every time I see the term "artery-clogging saturated fat" Seriously, though...a patient (who works in an ophthalmology clinic) once told me about the 20/20/20 rule. Every twenty minutes, find an object 20 feet away, and stare at it for 20 seconds. This apparently relaxes the muscles in the eyes that help you focus. This method decreases fatigue. I've shared it with my patients who stare at computers all day and most have said that it helps. Your mileage may vary. |
