It turned out really good so I'm pretty happy. I've been sick the last couple of days and I'm hoping this will help.

Basically I took a whole chicken cut in half plus a pound of gizzards put it in a 4 quart pot and poured cold water over it to the top. I let that slowly build to a boil.

In a 7 quart cockpot I chopped up and put in 2 raw carrots unpeeled, one bunch of radishes without the top green part, two small white onions, a bundle of celery and 3 or 4 uncut cloves of garlic.

When the pot boiled I skimmed off the fat that rose to the top. Then pour the whole thing into the cockpot and added 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I set it for low and let it sit overnight for about 10 hours.

This morning I added a bunch of parsley, set it for high and let that soak in for about 30 minutes. Then I strained it through a wire mesh strainer. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the left over ingredients ...

I'm drinking some in a mug right now and it's actually really good. Better than anything I ever bought in the store.

So what do you think? Any other good broth recipes or homemade cold remedies?

As this isn't a question, it's probably gonna get closed fairly soon. Enjoy it while it lasts ;). – Beth-WeightMaven Apr 27 2012 at 13:28
lol, okay. I'll change it up a bit to make it a question. – Paul Apr 27 2012 at 14:31
