Most of the related questions I have come across on here involve individuals looking to eliminate coffee, tea, or caffeine from their diets. I am on lean gains and currently do not drink coffee or tea. Do you see any reasonable benefit to adding a cup of tea or coffee to my mornings while I am fasting (I break my fasts around 11am-noon)? I never have any hunger or tiredness issues, but I have read that coffee and tea can help accelerate fat loss.

White tea is far better than green tea or coffee. It has the highest amount of anti-oxidants and more importantly, it contains far less fluoride than green tea. As you may know, fluoride slows the thyroid down, which in turn can slow weight loss. I drink a triple bag cup of white tea every morning during my fast. |

I drink both but I can tell you that most addicts make excuses for why their addictions are fine. If you don't drink either and are fine there is no reason to start. Caffeine disrupts homeostasis and so causes stress. If everything else is fine it probably isn't a bad thing. Have a bad day? Get sick? Workout too hard and it can be the difference between a bad few days and adrenal burnout. |

I drink oolong tea, burns more fat and gives me much more energy but with much less caffeine, along with all the other benefits. Its similar to green tea but the leaves are processed different. Google oolong energy, there are some good studies on it. |

I drink both every day but limit my coffee to one glass before noon and the stop drinking green tea before 4pm. It always seems to affect my sleep. I think they should be part of your Paleo diet. |

Coffee has been demonstrated to have fat-burning effects as well, especially in a fasted state. Given the antioxidant values of both green and white tea as well, you really can't go wrong with any of these choices. Basically, it depends on what you like. I say you should try them all! |

Green tea has known fat-burning effects. I drink one cup every morning. I enjoy jasmine green tea..it seems a little less harsh than straight-up green, and doesn't bother my stomach. (I do LG too.) |
