So I've started introducing some starchy carbs (sweet potato, rice) into my diet after stagnating at 10% bf for good 6 months despite attempting to progressively reduce overall caloric intake. I have decided to track my blood sugar levels using a glucometer.
All my readings suggest that my blood sugar levels are well within the normal range however I still get some mental 'heaviness' and a general reduced mental sharpness/calrity following a starchy meal (~50g carbs) despite having an underlying 'strong' feeling. What I mean by strong is that I feel generally much better recovered from my workouts and my workouts themselves are much more intense. I don't however have the mental clarity that I used to get when combining lean game meat with cashews (the version of paleo that gave me best cognition).
Any suggestions/ideas are greatly appreciated.
Jason.
