I felt fine this morning. Great even. I cooked up some grass-fed liver from my local farmer and it sat like a rock in my stomach. A half hour later, I was sweating and running to the bathroom. My stomach is in knots and I feel miserable. What happened?

I'd get the book Odd Bits - chock full of information on how to cook the "odd bits" of the animal. http://www.amazon.com/Odd-Bits-Cook-Rest-Animal/dp/158008334X |

Food poisoning would not hit you a 1/2 hour after you eat. |

You might have had a reaction to the iron in the liver. Live is very high in iron. If your iron levels are on the higher end, eating liver can cause intestinal distress. I'm speaking from personal experience about this. I just had a therapeutic phelbotomy blood draw of 500 ml to help reduce my iron and ferritin levels. I've gotten an upset gut from high iron meals. |
