Well I want to try natto (partly because I could not get my Vitamin K2 supplement shipped to canada due to some laws)(I also eat conventional fats so I wont be getting enough k2 there), so where do I get it? Is natto found in regular Asian grocery stores? Which section do you find it in? What are some things I should eat with it to make it taste good if not already good. What are some benefits of eating natto that you have found(from experience not reading the internet)? How do you store it and how many packages should I buy if I can store it in the fridge? Are there concerns about phytoestrogens from the soy or is it alright because it is fermented?
Natto can be found in most Asian stores. Just ask a employee. It usually comes with a packet of sweet soy sauce(non-paleo) and a mustard-like sauce. You could use a gluten free soy sauce. Natto by it's self is an acquired taste, and the smell and texture can be off-putting for some people who are not used to it. To lessen the smell make sure to mix it well. This will make it more sticky, so if you don't like that then don't mix it as much. It goes well with soy sauce and mustard(which is why it's usually included) you can also add chopped green onion to it, or anything you want really. A common Japanese breakfast is to mix natto with a raw egg and soy sauce(optional) and pour it over rice and eat it like that.
