It sounds like you're burning a ton of calories and need to eat more food. Are you hungry or just binging for no reason? – invisible ink Apr 30 2012 at 23:42

it starts with cravings for oatmeal and peanut butter, i consumed a bowl of oatmeal and a couple of servings of natural PB, when i come home from school im starving – mike May 1 2012 at 0:03
through out the week i eat around 20-30 g of fat and roughly 200-250 grams of carbs – mike May 1 2012 at 0:07
Hey Mike, If you can do oatmeal, which a lot of people can't, I'd say to have it for the intensity you're traning at, I'd also suggest you make a bucket of guacamole...grab the bucket, a spoon and in no time, you'll be FULL. In addition, the high potassium content helps balance our body's electrolytes, aids muscle activity, nerve function and energy metabolism. Worst case scenario, try HIT once a day and take a little longer to get to your 7%, you’re body will thank you for it and you’ll be at ease in maintaining 7% instead of being miserable at maintaining it. Truth. – TruthinessInc May 1 2012 at 0:53

Stop doing HIIT twice a day!! That's way too stressful on the body, and is causing you to be crazy hungry... and as an 18 yo male, 1500-2000 calories isn't nearly enough. Cut the HIIT back to 2-3 times a week tops, and try to get at least 2000-2500 calories/day.

im still trying to get to 7% body fat, thats why i have created such calorie defeceit. – mike May 1 2012 at 0:23

Why are you trying to get to 7% bodyfat? The "perfect body" is not going to make you any happier despite what you might think. – gydle May 1 2012 at 6:50

"please explain how i can end this vicious cycle of binge eating everyday"

Stop buying that junk food, and the problem is resolved. Also, I would say it isn't binge eating if your body actually remains at energy balance. HIIT twice a day is significant.

my mom does the shopping, and keep telling not to buy stuff thats labeled high froctose corn syrup, and hydrogenated vegetable oil, but most stuff is in our household is complex carbs, fruits, vegetables, and lean meat like turkey and chicken breast – mike May 1 2012 at 0:11

That's understandable. It sounds like you're fairly young then, and in that case it may be a combination of growth spurts, hormones, and activity level driving your appetite. I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you're gaining lots of fat. – David Csonka May 1 2012 at 0:21

When I binge, I binge on eggs, fruits, maybe a teaspoon of raw honey, and a 1/4 of very dark cocoa chocolate. But I definitely don't binge on non-Paleo foods. Especially gluten, I won't eat anything containing it, no matter how crazy my hormones are going asking me to eat uncontrollably.

sorry i just thought this was funny. words "binge" and "a teaspoon of" doesn't fit in my...umm...filosofy. i actually same type of cravings every now and then, and i'm almost uncabable of controlling my cheats - say to one serving or cheat meal - and usually go all out. it kinda bums me out for a few days, but now that i'm not that concerned about my weight or being super lean, i often say myself "so what". as long as i can keep my weight controlled on the long run, i feel like cheats - even big ones - dont mess up my life that much. – Antti May 1 2012 at 0:28

I couldn't imagine in a million years bingeing on eggs and fruit. What does that even look like? A dozen egg omlette and a bag of apples? – FED at LiveCaveman.com May 1 2012 at 0:29
Lol your binge resembles my breakfast Eugenia. – Acumen Athletics May 1 2012 at 0:41

I don't mean this as insulting whatsoever, if anything it shows how disciplined you are, buttttt: that's not a binge - at all. – Al88 May 1 2012 at 1:14

Hehe, I'm serious! I just don't manage to binge on non-Paleo foods. The last time I did that (many months ago), it was with a bit of rice. Since my eczema returned the next day because of it, I stopped doing it. As for the rest of the foods, I spent 10+ years being very sick, illnesses that Paleo fixed. So when I binge on fruits/eggs, it simply means that I eat more than 50 gr of carbs daily (I go out of ketosis, that is). For me, that constitutes binging, because after being in ketosis for a while, even a single orange gets you to feel guilty! – Eugenia May 1 2012 at 1:54

Mike at 18 you are in your anabolic prime. You're bingging because of that & the HIIT. Honestly I'd scrap the 7% bf goal if I was in your position. Regardless of your goals, you should eat up enough to support your BMR and what you are burning doing HIIT.

Have you tried a binge substitute food? For me it helps a lot to keep something incredibly low-calorie around in the house and direct my binges towards that. Since I'm eating from emotion and not from true hunger, it doesn't seem to matter what I stuff in my mouth as long as I can keep shoveling it in there. I can eat several heads of lettuce or broccoli with mustard and balsamic vinegar - a little weird but no damage at all compared to the same amount of cupcakes or ice cream. And then in an hour or so the urge to binge passes with no serious harm done. A pack of gum can also be an emergency binge substitute; so can Crystal Lite and similar stuff (not Paleo I know, but so helpful).

Maybe it would also help to come up with some (Paleo) food you really love and make it your "Monday treat" so you have something healthy to look forward to. Or alternately, find an activity for Mondays that gets you OUT of the house and AWAY from the binge food, and distract yourself with that.

I also second the advice to get plenty of carbs in your diet on a regular basis. If you're actually hungry, make sure to eat something healthy - 2X HIIT a day is a LOT and you probably need the calories.

yeah i do INSANITY workout for my HIIT – mike May 1 2012 at 0:46
i would eat oatmeal, but i dont know if that is healthy in the afternoon with all the carbs and all – mike May 1 2012 at 0:47
you need the carbs if you're working out that much. – gydle May 1 2012 at 7:00
