My sister, 27 years old, about 5'2-ish, is overweight, and the dr's told her she needed to cut out cholesterol and lose 70lbs in 3 months. Our "diets" are COMPLETE opposites. I am convinced that going primal is healthy living, but she insists it doesn't work for her. Since paleo is a fatty lifestyle, how does someone w high cholesterol go caveman?

Cholesterol in food does not equal cholesterol in the blood. If her cholesterol is high she probably has a lot of inflammation, and she NEEDS the fat to heal. |

Go to Original Nutritionals Website and do her the biggest favor you can and order her some Omega-3 liquid! |

70 lbs in 3 months would almost certainly destroy her kidneys. 3 lbs/wk is about as sustainable a loss rate as most humans can deal with, barring serious medical consequences. Perhaps your sister misunderstood, or there is more to the story? Regardless, it's less about getting fat into or out of her diet and more about adjusting her fat intake. If she quits gluten, soy, sugar, and vegetable oil, eats cold water fish and/or supplements with omega 3, and avoids anything in a box, bag , sack, or can, she will begin to heal herself quickly. If she wants to rapidly begin to heal her gut, she can do a week on bone-broth alone (made from pasteured animal bones, of course). Best of luck to her! |
