I am interested in following the Paleo Diet but about two years ago I had radiation treatment for throat cancer. My saliva glands were adversely affected and don't generate enough saliva to eat meat like beef, pork, or chicken, or even fish which has the same dry stringy consistency like salmon. I can eat 'slippery meat' like chicken skin, liver sashimi (raw uncooked), raw octopus and squid... anything that kind of slides down.

Is there anything in the Paleo Diet that a cancer survivor with bad saliva glands can eat?

Can you do soups and stews with shredded meat? If so, the crock pot should be your best friend. Maybe you could better describe the characteristics that make something acceptable? Do unacceptable foods just dry out your mouth--can you eat them if you wash them down with a lot of water, or?

Bone broth is a must, and what about paleo starches to get enough calories? Can you eat a mashed sweet potato?

Smoothies with full-fat greek yogurt (and/or raw milk if you can get it!), raw eggs, fruit or even vegetables seems like they could also work well.

Overall, it seems like it should be much easier (obviously that's a relative term) to eat Paleo than SAD since grains must be murder without much saliva or amylase action.
