For the past 2 days I've felt this odd fullness in the back of my throat. It's hard to describe since it's not a pain or difficulty swallowing but more a feeling like I need to burp, and can't...

Is this potentially thyroid related?

Are you on any medications? There are some that cause this kind of discomfort. – January May 14 2012 at 17:09
no medications, however I think it may have been triggered by caffeine – terra May 14 2012 at 18:13

I get that feeling (or something very similar) when I eat any dairy (other than ghee). Sometimes taking a decongestant like off the shelf Sudafed will clear it up. If that works then it probably means you have a dairy allergy (sensitivity).

The thyroid glands are on either side of your throat right in the front, at the base of your neck (sort of directly above your collarbone hollows), so it would seem unlikely that a feeling in the back of the throat would be related.

old question i know, but anyways...

if it happens after eating, may be worth you researching GERD aka "acid reflux"
