I am almost at the end of three weeks of strict paleo and am feeling a little underwhelmed. Im not sleeping well, I look "greyish" (best friends word), Im constipated as hell, and most oddly, iv lost 2.7kgs (6lbs?) but i havent lost a single centimetre.
Whats going on?!
Keep at it! Make sure you're getting plenty of water AND enough salt as you lose water weight, which you most likely will. The most important benefits (as well as the lasting ones) do not happen overnight. Your impatience will only impede you, thanks to good old cortisol.
All good things take time. The healthier you are, the healthier you look. Thin and unhealthy can happen quickly, but looks AND FEELS like hell. Don't let vanity be your driving force. Health and quality of life are much better payoffs, and a couple of nice little side effects of working toward those goals are weight loss, looking younger and rocking a strong, able body.
Yikes! Constipated, greyish, and not sleeping? It would be hard for me to wait that much badness out :).
It would be helpful to know which plan you are following, what kind of exercise you're getting, what kind of protein/fat/carb ratios you're shooting for, but it also seems like a good question for your trainer, dietician, or book, website, or other more authoritative source that just us "hacks"
IMHO, its easy to make yourself a little crazy around here trying to follow everybody's different suggestions (more fat! more carbs! more eyeball massages!) especially when you're new to the game and have broad, complicated questions.
If you're just looking for a little encouragement then: hang in there, know that there's really no such thing as a free lunch, there's more than one way to skin this cat, and sometimes you get what you pay for - so consider a joining a gym, hiring a consultant or reading a paleo book cover-to-cover if you haven't yet.
My experience with paleo was magical from day 1, so I tend to have a lot less patience with the wait-it-out approach.
Out of curiosity... what's your blood type?
How "strict" have you been on the diet? Have you used grass-fed or grain-fed beef? Have you eaten pork? Have you eaten dairy? Do you have any digestive conditions?
Lots of possibilities, need a lot more information.
You need to write down everything you eat and drink. There is bound to be something you're missing. To be honest though, it takes a fair while for your body to get rid of all the bad stuff. I didn't feel too much different until the 5th or 6th week. Then it was like I woke up ten years younger one morning.
Well things are happening, but not necessarily good things. Low carb flu could be at play here, but so could heavy metal toxicity, hormone or electrolyte imbalances, insufficient digestive juices, missing some vital gut bacteria that would normally break down what you are eating. You may or may not do well on a low carb diet, and throwing a good amount of starch and/or fat in there could help, but it might not.
I want to say up you animal fat, lower your animal protein intake a bit, but if you have pancreatitis or are low in bile that wouldn't be the right advice, you need to be in the care of someone who can do actual labs and see what is going on under the hood.
If you are turning grey and experiencing severe constipation it is officially time for you to seek the advice of a medical professional who understands nutrition, specifically the nutritional path you are on.

Did you change your caffeine and/or sugar intake dramatically? Either of those could be impacting you.
Also, how is your gut health? Do you need to introduce some friendly bacteria? If so, maybe you can add some kefir, kombucha, or other probiotic goodies.
How is your protein to veggie ratio? If you're dramatically upping your protein with relatively small amounts of veg, you'll definitely get stopped up with constipation. Add more veggies, and see if the roughage doesn't move stuff along.
FWIW, I felt terrible for most of my whole thirty. Turns out I had a sensitivity to FODMAPS, so I feel it is my duty to suggest the possibility to you (though it may not have any bearing).
Are you stressed?
Don't overdo it on protein, make sure you are eating enough greens and fruits. Alkalize. Eat green smoothies with your steak. Furthermore, are you not sleeping at all or are you waking up, say around three am or so and can't get back to sleep? or restless after 1 am? I'm asking because if you're taking in too much protein and note enough carbs and fats, your body is going to send warning flags to your adrenals and kidneys and this might have to do with the skin color (this could also be lack of oxygenation, fatigue which makes sense considering the no sleep). Be sure to stay hydrated without over-hydrating. Also consider blue-green algaes and spirulina to your foods. Helps with complexion and uptake of minerals and beta carotene.
Constipation may be gut flora, too much old compacted poop (did you have stellar BM's before?), not enough fat, not enough fiber, not enough water or any combo of the above. Aloe vera whole-leaf juice (get it from a health food store) has been known to be very helpful to ease any kind of constipation and/or inflammation in the body.

Thank you so much for the Responses guys. Amazing amount of info. To update, grey ish pallor has suddenly disappeared and I'm practically glowing! Sleeping hasn't improved but constipation is a little better.
Re the protein, most of it comes from salmon, eggs and chicken. Eating craploads of veggies. Far more than I did when I was veggie. Coffee/sugar, yes I went cold turkey and haven't touched either since starting three weeks ago. Oddly I haven't craved any either. Yes to stress at the moment.
I have also chucked in a good quality probiotic as well as upping calories. Funny enough I decided to fat bomb yesterday. Ate practically my body weight in macadamias (which is a HUGE mental breakthrough for me) and this morning I felt really good. Remarkably, my weight dropped.
On a side note, I went for my regular swim last night and a friend who hasn't seen me in a few weeks started demanding to know what iv been doing. Cellulite (quite bad which I have long since made peace with) has almost completely vanished. Seriously. Like its gone!
