How I do this? I need to lose weight ASAP. My sugar readings are in the 300's not because what I eat but because It is hard to exercise due to injury.

More information is needed. What does your standard daily menu look like? – MathGirl72 May 17 2012 at 20:48

"My sugar readings are in the 300's not because what I eat" <- Not buying that. If you are regulating your insulin dose and eating properly, your blood glucose will not be that high. That is dangerously high. – NewEra May 17 2012 at 21:24

That was my first thought, too, NewEra. I call BS! – MathGirl72 May 17 2012 at 21:33

There is something wrong with what you're eating...what ARE you eating? Here's what you SHOULD eat....protein, fine if not beef, chicken or pork but at least eggs, and well sourced fish. Vegetables, stay away from potatoes. For now, little to no fruit. Plenty of good fat sources...pastured butter, olive oil, avocado. IF you are eating any processed whole grain garbage the Diabetes folks are telling you to eat, STOP. Best of luck to you. What will help will be if you post an average day or two of what you are currently eating.

You could certainly do a ovo-pescetarian paleo diet, no problem. Veggies, fish, eggs...

Sugar readings in the 300s however are a very serious problem. That's a diet problem, not an exercise problem. It's major metabolic derangement. Definitely give your diet (your dietary preferences, ahem, vegetarianism) a good hard look. Is it worth dying for?

Diet is 90% of weight loss…exercise is only 10%. You need to get right with your diet.

The women I work with are always stressing about getting to the gym. Meanwhile they eat crap. Ergo, zero progress. I'm not saying I'm the fittest person around, but I stay slim through diet alone (I used to be chubbier, so I have been there). I eat the right things and I don't eat too much. – Renee May 18 2012 at 0:58
