I love coffee, but suffer from candida and I can't (don't want to:) stop my daily cup of coffee, so I bought an organic one and put a coconut oil and cinnamon instead of milk in it. I have only one not very strong cup per day, if I am studying for the exams, like these days, maybe I'll have two for better results and stamina (it really works for me). Unfortunately I realised, that I have really STRONG hunger after drinking a cup of coffee, even if I am full and have a good large lunch or breakfast right before. What is going on? feel anyone a similar effect? I'm worried about because of my candida, i don't want to feed the little yeasties from elevated sugar levels in my blood. thanks for answer!

I run a 16/8 IF every day (in other words, I skip breakfast). I can stretch that out to 24 hours without any hunger. I'd consider myself "fat-adapted", generally LC, sometimes VLC, but the absence of hunger seems to persist even after carbohydrate-filled breakdowns, like a long weekend in Austin with civilian hosts who take you to Juan in Million. I have 40 ounces of medium strength black coffee every morning, and it doesn't affect (cause) hunger, so I'm concluding that coffee doesn't universally cause hunger. Your post had me mildly concerned, as I started reading about coffee and insulin resistance, so I did the only prudent thing... ...found another paper that I liked better. Good luck. |

I think it's probably more likely that the coffee is stimulating hunger through more straightforward means: like stimulating stomach acid. |

It stimulates hunger because you are consuming 'something' telling your brain to get ready for more. It stimulates hunger because it affects insulin and insulin sensitivity. It blunts hunger because of the caffeine stimulant. All around, its a hell of a drug. |
