Sooo I'm at work, and I have a salad with me. It's a salad I prepared 4 days ago. Salad dressing is not on the salad of course. It's spinach, cut romaine, peppers, onions, little chopped vegetable bits. It LOOKS ok. Would you eat it? How long can you store a prepared salad like this for in the refrigerator? Do you think this 4 days is pushing it?

It's probably fine, especially if it's not dressed, so take a sniff. Smells fresh? Great. Toss around with a fork to make sure nothing looks slimy - if yes just pick those bits out and eat away! Note: I like to keep all my ingredients separate until I physically make the salad, just to not run into what you have, I'll keep apart until it's time to eat. I use a bento and it works awesome. Another thing that is great at absorbing moisture, if you have it all made up, is line the storage bowl with a paper towel then ingredients, seal. |

Don't eat any black slimey parts and you're probably fine. It won't be the freshest salad.... |

It really depends on how dry the ingredients were when you put them in the bowl. If they salad isn't slimy or have a strange odor, it should be fine. |

Is it in a sealed container? That will make it keep longer. I've kept salad for longer than that and it's been fine. Not optimal in terms of taste/texture, but i don't think dangerous. |
