I haven't been eating as well as I should over the past couple of months. Too much starch, not enough veggies, and too many sweets. This past week my energy levels have been low, my back has been hurting and I've been retaining water like a sumbitch.
Luckily I have a pack of urine test strips at home and when I checked this morning I had a very high amount (500+) of leukocytes, indicating infection. Doc appointment has been scheduled for later on this morning, and this has motivated me to get back on to a stricter Primal diet (during which I had zero kidney problems for nearly 2 years). No more cornbread or sauce with my BBQ, no more dark chocolate from Aldi, no more thin-crust pizza from Domino's once a month.
I've been lazy, and now I feel like crap and am going to have to shell out $40 for a doctor's visit because of it.
What happens to you when you start incorporating too much crap in your diet? Do you see a drastic reaction?
UPDATE: Went to doc, did a urinalysis, no signs of infection or RBC's (wtf?). He's concerned that, given my history, I may have a stone lurking somewhere in my kidneys. Having bi-lateral aching and mild spasming, he's leaving it to me to decide what I want to do. I'm opting for conservative treatment, and will take muscle relaxers as needed, eat right, drink water, and apply heat through the long weekend. If the pain persists, he'll set me up for an ultrasound.
He knows I eat Primal (and is very supportive), and I mentioned that I'd been slacking hard, eating too much crap and not enough veggies. He said that if you're predisposed to these kinds of things (stones, infections, etc), the least little deviation can trigger a recurrence. So, yeah, that sucks lol. I'm calling it "motivation".
Rotisserie chicken, turnip greens and blueberries for lunch. Being a good girl ;)
