So today is the first time I have ever eaten Gouda cheese. It had an orange-red rind on it with a grid imprint on it. I didn't bother looking it up on the internet and thought it was safe to eat and ate some of it with the rind on it. Now I read an article that states, that the rind on Gouda cheese is inedible. Have any of you eaten gouda cheese with the rind and if you did, what were the after affects? I don't know if this is in my mind or if its really happening but i feel some minor stomach discomfort right now.

I'm pretty sure it's food-grade wax and it'll pass. And, really? The not-found-in-cheese color didn't clue you in? Sorry, I only jest because it is the kind of thing I would do... – MathGirl72 May 27 at 5:38

next time slow down and look at what you are putting into your mouth! Remember to peel the RED protective wax off as well! :) – Kelly May 27 at 13:07

On the plus side, I hear that the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio of wax is great...

That is the best! So much better to laugh at ourselves than stress it! – Chelsea May 27 at 20:00

the crust on goudse cheese is not meant for eating, beut when eating accidentally it is not harmful for your health.

This is exactly why PaleoHackers need to learn Dutch. Me encanta Goudse. – coffeesnob May 27 at 6:06
